Taking the Plunge

This Sunday, October 2nd, at 9:30AM, my 8-year-old daughter, Madison will take a the plunge.  Well, actually, she took the plunge about a year ago, but this time she’ll celebrate with LOTS of friends and family.  Let me explain.

Madison has grown up in church.  But, more than that, she is growing up in a family that is teaching her about God and living out our faith.  She not only hears Bible stories at MLC, but she is reading them for herself in her own devotional books.  And, her dad and I leverage teachable moments to point her to Jesus.  So, we weren’t surprised when Madison announced last year that she had become a Christian by asking Jesus to forgive her sins and become her Leader.  She took the spiritual plunge!  Yet, as her parents we wanted to be sure she understood the commitment she made simply so she wouldn’t one day doubt the validity of it as she got older.  So, we’ve spent the last several months discipling, teaching, explaining, and affirming.

This weekend Madison will be baptized in front of our church, our family, and our friends.  She’ll take the plunge!  She understands that baptism is merely the outward expression of her inward decision…..it is a clear way to tell the world that she now belongs to God.

If you are a local friend, come join my family as we celebrate!  If not, leave a comment to encourage the journey of faith my sweet daughter is embarking on.  Welcome another child to the Family of God!

  1. So excited for you, Madison!! It’s so wonderful that you received Jesus at such a young age :o) My baptism was one of the best moments of my life, I know yours will be, too. I pray you will always serve God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength!

God bless you as you “take the plunge”!
