It’s a new year with new hopes, new beginnings, and yes, new resolutions.
In year’s past, I’ve made my fair share of resolutions. This year, my resolution actually started in December. Yep, that’s right, I started a health and fitness program DURING the Christmas holidays. (Sometimes my decisions aren’t all that bright.)
Several of my friends have pinpointed things they’d like to change in their lives: organize their house, become more patient, create a family budget, and simplify their life, to name a few.
Last weekend at Mountain Lake Church, we kicked off a teaching series to help all of us as we tackle those promises we’ve made to ourselves called Start Here; Go Anywhere. For 4 weeks, my husband is unpacking very practical, relevant steps to actually accomplishing the goals you’ve set for yourself.

Sound elementary? Well, it is. Nevertheless, it’s true. Your house isn’t going to organize itself. Those pounds won’t magically fall off. You won’t become a bible scholar by osmosis. No one else is going to pay off your debt. YOU must take the steps to make those things happen. So, start now, and start small.
Move for 15 minutes today. Organize one drawer. Read one book of the Bible…..take a note, or two. Pray before you start the day.
Start now. Start small. But, START!

Kick the loner habit.
If we could break the habit of being too busy or too private to invest into others – or be invested into – we would be much more likely to keep those resolutions. Think about it. When you have a partner, don’t you complete the workout rather than quitting early? It’s true in other areas, too. Friends encourage. Friends stick with you. Friends spur us on.
